Simon Mashauri is a sociologist and digital health innovator with over 20 years of experience in public health. As the founder and leader of TibaSalama, he focuses on using technology and social entrepreneurship to improve primary healthcare, particularly for mothers, young children, and adolescent girls in rural areas.

He works closely with communities, government, and healthcare providers, emphasizing the empowerment of Community Health Workers (CHWs) as key drivers of sustainable change. By leveraging data and evidence-based decision-making, he ensures that digital solutions deliver real and measurable impact.

His vision is to ensure safe motherhood, healthy child development, and the empowerment of girls, while advancing inclusive, community-driven digital health solutions.

Bethanie Mills (MPH)

Health Educator

Bethanie Mills is a nonprofit professional with 20 years of experience in public health program management and patient advocacy. She is currently a freelance health educator based in Bremen, Germany after relocating from the U.S. in 2025. Until June of 2025 Bethanie directed patient services and education for over 16 years at The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (now Blood Cancer United) for Central and Northern California and Nevada. She facilitated collaborative partnerships which resulted in the co-creation of culturally informed materials (videos, flyers) and health education events with stakeholders from historically marginalized communities including those who speak a primary language other than English, residents of rural areas, veterans, and young adults. Bethanie earned her Master of Public Health degree from Emory University in Atlanta, GA in 2008. Her internship and masters thesis took her to Heilongjiang Province in China where she conducted interviews and focus groups as part of an evaluation of sexual and reproductive health education for rural women. Prior to a career in health, Bethanie taught English in Germany, Taiwan, and the US.

As a TibaSalama Advisory Board member, she advises on effective and accountable use of financial resources for sustainable impact.

Dr. Deborah Maufi

Technical Advisor – PSI-Europe

Dr. Deborah Maufi is a technical advisor in menstrual health and hygiene (MHH) and sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) at PSI-Europe. She has over 10 years of experience working with startups and NGOs to improve SRHR services and maternal and newborn health outcomes across Africa, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. She holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) and an MBA. She was recognized as one of the HIMSS Future50 Clinical Leaders in 2021. As a member of the TibaSalama Advisory Board, she contributes meaningfully to reducing maternal and child mortality for children aged 0–5 in Tanzania.
